Lose 10 pounds in a week and mostly likely the so-called lost weight makes it's way back in short order. The better way is to change some actions and habits and get the weight off and keep it off or lost. Does that sound like a good idea? Maybe so...
But how is it possible to drop 10 pounds in a week? If the goal is to look at a lighter scale reading, there are numerous plans that will accomplish just that.
One old plan is called the cabbage soup diet. Refined over the years, the basics of this eating plan remain the same. Don't think this is suggested as a long-term eating plan. It is not and is only a one week eating routine, that's all. It is a workable plan to drop a bunch of pounds in a hurry and to do it at low cost and with a minimum of pain and hassle.
It's more than just eating soup, luckily. The foods you eat are quite varied. The soup is truthfully mostly just a filler to keep hunger back and to make it less of a chore to stick with this. The details of the plan are outlined below and as you can see it's quite specific and detailed.
Here's the plan for the week, for each day. For the whole week, eat all the soup you want whenever you want it.
First Day
This day eat all the fruits you want except for bananas. Eat no bananas. Drink unsweetened tea, cranberry juice and water. Bananas show up in a later day....
Second Day
Eat all the vegetable you want, either cooked or raw on this second day. Don't eat fruits. Also leave off dry beans or peas or corn. For dinner eat a baked potato and butter with it. Note the variety so far but also how restrictive this is. Note the lack of sweets and breads and such too.
Third Day
Now on the third day, you eat all the fruits and vegetables you want. Leave off the potato though. The variety is building a bit.
Fourth Day
Sometimes called the banana diet, this day makes it clear where that name came from. Eat up to EIGHT bananas plus drink all the skim milk you want this day!!! Maybe not a good idea if you have blood sugar problems of course. In that case, you could repeat one of the other days. Remember the soup too, of course.
Fifth Day
This time you can eat up to twenty ounces of beef or broiled or baked chicken and six fresh tomatoes too. Drink at least six glasses of water this day and every day of the week.
Sixth Day
Eat all the beef and vegetables you want on this day. Keep eating the soup but leave off the potato again today.
Seventh Day
Today finish up with brown rice plus unsweetened fruit juices and vegetables. Eat all you want plus the soup. Notice how you sort of ease into the diet and then ease out.
The cabbage soup diet is about more than cabbage soup. As you see, it's quite varied. The weight loss mostly results from the restrictions that keep both calories and fats quite low. This is only for a few days, remember. After that the way to really get results is to transition to a more sensible and balanced plan that combines reasonable eating with a plan for more exercise.
